Every now and then we have the opportunity to get to know a Project Left Behind supporter better. We had the pleasure of interviewing Diana Adams recently. We hope you enjoy getting to know her as much as we did!
PLB: Where do you call home?
DA: Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
PLB: How do you spend your time?
DA: I own a property management company which keeps me busy. I also do yoga.
PLB: How long have you been involved with Project Left Behind?
DA: About a year.
PLB: You support Project Left Behind because…
DA: PLB is an amazing project to support. I have personally travelled to Peru with Project Left Behind and I have seen exactly where the donations are going. I am so happy to be able to help in this direct way.
PLB: We love that you took the time to join us on a voluntour trip! What is the one thing you would have to take with you on an island to survive?
DA: I really need to do yoga almost every day so I would need my mat and an iPad to stream classes.
PLB: Who is one person who inspires you and why?
DA: The adoptive families I worked with during the 24 years I worked in international adoptions inspire me. They travelled halfway around the world to give children they had never met before permanent homes and loving families. Some of them adopted older children or children with special needs. These families are very special to me.
PLB: Favorite or funniest travel story?
DA: I was invited to a family friend’s wedding in Latvia. When an adoption coordinator in Russia heard I was traveling to Latvia, she insisted I visit her in Moscow. I went to see her after the wedding and we stopped by one of the orphanages one afternoon to drop off some items. A 5-year-old boy with big brown eyes was sitting at one of the small tables staring at me. Later after we left, the director explained that the boy told her that his mother had come back for him. Needless to say we ended up adopting him and bringing him home a few months later.
PLB: Oh my goodness, tears in the eyes! You sure do inspire us. Will you share with us something we would never guess about you if we didn’t know you well?
DA: I love to cook vegetarian feasts for lots of guests, friends and family.
Thank you Diana for sharing yourself with us! We are inspired by you and thrilled to have you as a Project Left Behind supporter.
